Gehna's Story
Gehna is just one year old. Her parents, from a small village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, noticed a swelling on her lower back at birth. They hoped it would heal with time. Instead, it kept growing, month after month.
Today the swelling measures roughly 15 × 20 cm. Gehna still plays, moves her legs and smiles. Doctors say that with timely tests and surgery, her childhood can be saved.
The family has brought her to the Neurosurgery department at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad. But the cost of the MRI, surgery and medicines is far beyond their reach. Her mother has just one prayer: "Let my little girl be well again."
