Important Notice
This page describes the Trust's intended approach to responsible charitable operations. It is not a legal opinion and does not represent that a particular registration, licence, tax approval or statutory filing has been obtained unless verified and documented.
1. Trust Deed and Charitable Objects
The Trust should conduct activities within the charitable objects and powers stated in its executed Trust Deed and applicable law. The Trust should verify that published programmes fall within its governing documents.
2. Donations and Financial Records
The Trust aims to maintain appropriate records of donations, transactions, receipts, expenditure, programme activities and assistance provided. Financial records and reporting should be maintained as required by applicable law and professional advice.
3. Tax Exemption and Receipts
A donation receipt does not by itself establish eligibility for a tax deduction. Claims about tax benefits, including section 80G, should be made only where the relevant approval is valid, applicable and verified. The Trust should not imply that every donor or contribution qualifies.
4. Foreign Contributions
The Trust should not solicit or accept foreign contributions unless legally authorised and compliant with applicable requirements, including the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, where applicable. Professional advice should be obtained before accepting contributions that may fall under foreign-contribution rules.
5. Personal Data and Privacy
The Trust aims to handle donor, volunteer and beneficiary information responsibly and follow applicable data-protection, privacy and security requirements. Medical and children's information should receive particular care. Public disclosures should be made with appropriate consent or other lawful authority where required.
6. Online Fundraising and Advertising
Fundraising pages and advertisements should identify the Trust, accurately describe the charitable purpose, disclose relevant campaign terms and avoid misleading claims. Analytics, cookies or advertising pixels should be implemented with appropriate notices and consent where required.
7. Beneficiary Verification and Consent
The Trust should take reasonable steps to verify assistance requests and maintain relevant records. Identifiable photographs, medical documents and personal stories should be published only with appropriate permission or other lawful authority, subject to applicable law.
8. Donor Restrictions and Fund Utilisation
Donations should be used consistently with disclosed purpose, donor restrictions, the Trust Deed and applicable law. Restricted donations should not be treated as unrestricted without an appropriate legal basis. Surplus or cancelled campaigns should be handled according to relevant disclosures and applicable requirements.
9. Refunds and Complaints
The Trust should maintain a clear process for receiving and reviewing donation-related concerns, including duplicate or incorrect transactions. Complaints should be recorded and addressed within a reasonable timeframe consistent with applicable law and payment-provider procedures.
10. Review and Unverified Claims
The Trust should periodically review website content, fundraising statements, privacy practices, receipts, records and policies with authorised trustees and professional advisers. Do not publish unverified claims about registration numbers, government recognition, tax benefits, audit status, impact figures or licences.
